Amazing Island (GC) Review

Amazing Island takes you on a role of a boy or Girl (you choose), who got inside a book and traveled to Amazing Island, where the islanders need your help to defeat evil. Many people says it's like Pokemon and Mario party together, which sounds like something good but it really isn't. The mini games are certainly very Mario party style but no as fun as those. and just because you create and collect monsters, doesn't make it already similar to Pokemon.

The only great thing of this game is the ability to create your monster in different ways. Which is all very interesting, yet after spending so much time in creating the perfect monster, you only use it in some very simple mini games that are mostly about button smashing that does not require the monster to be that much strong. The characters and monster in the game look very weird in design, cartoon but gone wrong. And the backgrounds of the landscapes look way too simple, even for a cartoon type of game. The music fits enough with each mini game, I suppose.

However, there is a lot of reading instead of voiceovers, in which you will probably not read because its simply uninteresting. Overall, is really hard for me to recommend since anyone who wants mini games can easily pick up mario party, and whoever wants to create their monster, I suggest Spore as something more effective in monster creating.
